We are proud to announce this week's featured vocalist:

Violaine

The story of a singing former sorority girl from the Bible Belt and a Monk-like reclusive guitarist from the big city...

VIOLAINE is the brainchild of guitarist Ewen Williams and singer Shawna Hogan.
Located in Burbank, VIOLAINE’s sound can best be described as Adult Album Alternative and compares to Sarah Mclachlan, Train, etc…

Shawna Hogan, hailing originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been singing for over 20
years, covering everything from Musical Theatre to Italian Opera to Choir (in which she
obtained a vocal music scholarship at Texas Christian University). Citing such influences as Ann Wilson (Heart), Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave) and Joni Mitchell, she draws on all of these artists’ emotion, power and vulnerability.

Ewen Williams, a Los Angeles native, has been involved with music most of his life
playing guitar for the past 14 years. Having influences such as Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and Frank Zappa has helped him create his own unique sound, which presents itself within VIOLAINE. Ewen is currently on a national and international tour with John Fogerty (Credence Clearwater Revival).

Currently, Violaine spends their time playing shows around Los Angeles and
surrounding areas. Along with constantly writing and recording at their digital home
recording studio, they are vigorously promoting and marketing their music to their steadily increasing audience. Violaine has also had their songs consistently forwarded by wellrespected A&R Association TAXI over the past year.

Combining Shawna’s social butterfly personality along with her skill of writing
philosophical lyrics acquired through a lifetime of bad relationships and Ewen’s keen
artistic musicality obtained through years of having no social life, they’ve created an
original sound that is equal parts bittersweet, eclectic and optimistic.
