Love To Sing's Featured Vocalist of the Week

Would you like to be featured?

We are proud to announce this week's featured vocalist:

S. J. TUCKER

S. J. TUCKER, or Skinny White Chick, based in Memphis, Tennessee, is an unsigned singer-songwriter, a fresh, unique talent whose strong guitar work and enormous voice belie her small stature. Raised in Arkansas by an incredibly supportive family of musicians and music lovers, S. J., since moving to Memphis in 2001 to pursue her musical goals, has enjoyed spreading success and is now touring the USA in support of her first full-length album, Haphazard. A second album entered pre-production in early November with Memphis Records, as Haphazard, released in March of this year, continues to make waves on land and online.

Tucker's vocal prowess, writing style, and her piano-like guitar work garner frequent comparisons to Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos, and Jeff Buckley. Critics laud her "surprisingly energetic set" and the fact that "unlike most blues[y] singers, Tucker enunciates!" Expect hardy musical cuisine, rather than radio fluff: Tucker will make you think, laugh, dance, and be still, by giving you songs to sink your teeth into. Her particular brand of "mind-bending acoustic reality" will haunt you sweetly through your day and enrich your life experience, with tales of legendary characters come to life as well as unrelenting pieces about love, loss, and survival. S. J. Tucker will stay in your memory, in her guise as Skinny White Chick and with her presence and skill, for what you see on stage is what you get--and what you hear is undeniably powerful.

New Developments, November 2004: S. J. is a successfully selling artist with CD Baby and PaganMusic.com, recognized for her musical endeavors by TheBestFemaleMusicians.com, Witchvox.com, GoGirlsMusic.com, WebCDs.com, and FemMuse.com (and now Lovetosing.com!!!). A distribution deal with indie label Memphis Records is currently in negotiation. Phil Brucato’s review of S. J.’s album, Haphazard, is set to print in the upcoming issue of newWitch magazine. Recording for S. J.’s next full-length album continues, and a live bootleg of the best moments from S. J.’s recent tour is being made available to her fans, only at shows.

Listen to her here! Enjoy!
