Love To Sing's Featured Vocalist of the Week

Would you like to be featured?

We are proud to announce this week's featured vocalist:

Diana Tyler

Her mother, possessing a powerful operatic soprano voice, and her father, a fan and collector of big band music, made certain that music was a constant backdrop to everyday life. Raised in a home where two- and three-part harmony accompanied the nightly kitchen clean-up chores, Diana and her siblings eventually found themselves serving as their church's choir.

After many years spent singing in school and church choirs, a failed attempt at mastering (or even holding!) the violin, and even more time spent in high school band and drum & bugle corps, Diana eventually met...and married...a bass guitar player.

It wasn't 'til then that Diana decided she wanted to learn to play guitar so she could accompany herself. A few lessons, several years and two children later, Diana felt ready to go public with her music.

Throughout, Diana had been reading everything about songwriting that she could find, and eventually joined a songwriting critique group based in Columbus. A trip to Nashville with several members of the group brought her a lucky spot on the stages of two of the city's most famous venues--The Bluebird Cafe and Douglas Corner--where her performances were enthusiastically received by both audiences. Publishers from Nashville and Canada soon began taking notice.

In addition to performing with CRISIS, Diana has been part of a mixed-gender barbershop quartet (Highlight) and appeared in several area dinner theatre murder mysteries. Currently, Diana brings her solo acoustic act to churches, clubs, restaurants, festivals, and the occasional comedy venue. (Some of Diana's songs, like "Fireman"--and others which she calls "stupid songs"--are saved only for "distinctive" audiences...) Diana has entertained at concerts-in-the-park for various cities, several First Night celebrations and numerous clubs, restaurants, nursing homes, hospitals, and churches in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Illinois.

Diana continues to work regionally as a performing songwriter while also doing "hired gun" studio vocals for other songwriters. In her "spare time", she dabbles in community theatre, both onstage and in the orchestra pit. ("Have guitar and tap shoes. Will travel...")

Listen to her here! Enjoy!
